Whether you’re at the races or enjoying a dinner at home, you’ll love this Kentucky Derby Pie. A simple dessert, it mixes chocolate, nuts, and a splash of bourbon.
Traditionally, derby pie is made with chocolate and walnuts. However, pecans are also very tasty in this sweet treat.
This pie comes together super quickly, especially if you use a store-bought pie shell. You can also use a homemade pie shell, with your favorite recipe.
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (6-ounce) package chocolate chips
1 cup nuts (optional)
1 ounce bourbon (optional)
1 unbaked pie shell
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (160 degrees C).
Mix together the sugar and flour. Using a mixer, add the eggs, butter, and vanilla, mixing well.
Stir in the chocolate chips, nuts, and bourbon. Pour the batter into the pie shell.
Bake for 1 hour. Let rest before serving.
