Salads are a common accompaniment to most barbecues and outdoor gatherings. Gone are the days of just iceberg lettuce, now we have a wide range of salad greens to choose from each bringing their own slight flavor characteristic to the recipe.
Many salads contain a green salad leave as one of its components. These leaves can come from a variety of plants that seem to be continually expanding. Common salad greens include arugula, rocket, kale, spinach, and watercress. Also making more of an appearance are green herb leaves like parsley, basil, and cilantro.
Although you can use whatever ingredients you have on had to make a salad there are a few cliche salads that have stood the test of time, these include Ceasar salad, chef salad, cobb salad, garden salad, wedge salad, greek salad, and tabbouleh.
