Nut Recipes for the Outdoors

Nuts are a high protein and source of good fats which make them ideal for ingredients in your outdoor recipes. They are good simply as a snack as part of a trail mix or nibbling platter but also as an ingredient in more complicated recipes.

Whole nuts are great to be added to recipes like cakes, breads, stir-fries, and salads. More frequently now we are seeing nuts introduced as a paste such as in peanut butter and chocolate hazelnut spread.

There are a few recipes that are well known that nuts are the featured ingredient or critical to the recipe including. Satay featuring peanuts; pesto traditionally using pinenuts; chicken and cashew stirfry; Almond cakes that are cooked with almond flour; and candied walnuts for snacking on or salads.
