Cheerwine Cherry Cola Chocolate Dump Cake

The use of Cheerwine, a cherry cola, and maraschino cherries help elevate the rich flavors in this Cherry Cola Chocolate Dump Cake.

Dump cakes are a simple cake recipe for Dutch ovens that don’t involve any string but rather all the ingredients can be placed straight into the pot they are cooked in, most often a Dutch oven.

Some people stir the upper layers of the cake mix to remove the powder that may sometimes happen, while others enjoy this difference in texture so avoid string at all. This step is a personal preference.

Ingredients

1 can pie cherries

1 packet chocolate cake mix

1 bottle Cheer Wine (or similar cherry cola)

12 maraschino cherries

Equipment

10 inch Dutch oven

round parchment paper liner

Recipe Directions

  1. Preheat the 10-inch Dutch oven to 355 degrees F (180 degrees C).

  2. Make a paper liner for the Dutch oven using baking paper.

  3. Place in the paper liner in the preheated Dutch oven then add in order the canned pie cherries, chocolate cake mix, and Cheer Wine (cherry cola). Lightly mix the cake mix with the cola so there is no visible powder (unless you enjoy this crumble effect). Sprinkle the maraschino cherries across the top of the dump cake.

  4. Bake the dump cake at 355 degrees F (180 degrees C) for 25 minutes or until cooked.

  5. Serve in scoops into a bowl and serve alone or with cream or ice cream.
