The use of Cheerwine, a cherry cola, and maraschino cherries help elevate the rich flavors in this Cherry Cola Chocolate Dump Cake. You can use any cherry cola for this recipe. Make sure to save a few whole cherries to garnish the top of the cake and serve with a dollop of fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Dump cakes are a simple cake recipe for Dutch ovens that don’t involve any stirring. Rather, all the ingredients can be placed straight into the pot they are cooked in, most often a Dutch oven. Then the whole thing is baked, resulting in an easy and decadent dessert.
Some people stir the upper layers of the cake mix to remove the powder that may sometimes happen. Others enjoy this difference in texture so avoid stirring at all. This step is a personal preference – try it a few different ways to see what you like.

Ingredients
- 1 can (29 oz) pie cherries
- 1 packet chocolate cake mix
- 1 bottle Cheerwine or similar cherry cola

- 1 round parchment paper liner
Directions
- Preheat the 10-inch Dutch oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
- Make a paper liner for the Dutch oven using baking paper.
- Place the paper liner in the preheated Dutch oven. Add in order the canned pie cherries, chocolate cake mix, and Cheer Wine (cherry cola). - Bake the dump cake at 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) for 25 minutes or until cooked through.
- Serve in scoops into bowls and serve alone or with cream or ice cream.
