Impress your fellow campers with this super simple, but incredibly delicious Dutch Oven Peach Crisp, made with fresh peaches, oats, and brown sugar.
Peach jam is a traditional favorite in the summer, when fresh peaches are at their best. This jam is super simple, with only three ingredients: peaches, pectin, and sugar.
Making jam takes a little patience, but it is well worth it when you get a pantry stocked full of beautiful jars in the winter months.
You can use peach jam on sweet dishes, like biscuits, yogurt, or ice cream. Also try this jam on savory dishes, like topping pulled pork or as a topping for grilled fish.
4 1/2 cups peeled, pitted and crushed peaches
1 box powdered pectin
7 cups sugar
Put the crushed fruit and pectin in a large pot on the stove. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Boil for 1 to 2 minutes, then add the sugar all at once. Stir together and bring back to a rolling boil. Boil for 1 to 2 minutes more, or until it comes to jelling stage 220 degrees F (105 degrees C) on a candy thermometer.
Remove from the heat; skim the foam and discard.
Put the jam into sterilized jars and place a new canning lid and ring on them. Place in a water bath canner and process for 15 minutes. Remove from the canner and let sit overnight to cool.
Check the seals and remove the bands for storage. Any unsealed product should be placed in the refrigerator and eaten within 1 week.
